Salem finance committee meeting to be rescheduled

SALEM — The finance committee meeting slated for today will be rescheduled.

Councilman and Committee Chairman Andrew Null announced Monday that a meeting of the finance committee originally slated for 6 p.m. today will have to be rescheduled. The rescheduled date had not been selected at that time.

The meeting would have seen the committee discuss recent proposals to enroll in delinquent income tax collection through the Regional Income Tax Collection Agency and to update the city’s policy regarding the accrual of compensatory time by the city’s employees.

An ordinance which would modify the policy to allow the city’s unrepresented employees to accrue time above current the 160-hour cap to be used for time off later in the year was introduced and given its first reading in city council’s March 4 meeting; however, when council last met March 18, Null declined to introduce the ordinance or subsequent resolution which would extend the change to city employees represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local #2701 for further consideration pending further discussion at the committee level.

Starting at $2.99/week.
