Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society
The Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society will hold its first meeting of 2025 on Sunday in Boardman Park’s Georgiana Parker Room from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The program will include a video of the newest dahlias of 2025 as well as society members discussing preparations for gardens for the upcoming planting and growing season.
EP road closure
The East Palestine Water Department will be digging at the intersection of East North Ave and North Sumner Street today for a hydrant/valve repair. The road will be closed periodically throughout the day.
Donations for flowers
The Village of Lisbon is accepting donations to purchase spring flowers on three squares. Donations can be sent via checks to the Lisbon Beautification Committee at 120 N. Market St., Lisbon, OH 44432.
‘Civil War Living History Event’
A “Civil War Living History Event” will be held at Scenic Vista Park, March 21-23. The event will start at 4 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Sunday and Saturday. Reenactors will bring the past to life with authentic encampments, military drills, period demonstrations and historical presentations. The park is located at 11523 Wayne Bridge Road in Lisbon. Attendees can walk through the camps, watch demonstrations, and learn about the lives of soldiers and civilians during the Civil War era. This family-friendly event is free. Watershed Cleanup April 27
Friends of the Mahoning River invites community members to participate in a Watershed Cleanup on Saturday, April 27 , from 9 a.m. to p.m. at the Don Rex Canoe and Kayak Launch at 43 Front St, Girard, OH 44420. This event is an opportunity to make a real difference by removing trash and debris from the Mahoning River watershed. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Waders or waterproof boots are recommended, and all other cleanup supplies will be provided. Reverse Raffle Drawing
Angels for Animals will host a Reverse Raffle Drawing from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Andrews Hall, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield. Cost for the raffle only is $75, dinner only $25. Shelter will be open 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., raffle at 7:30 p.m. Dinner will be prepared by Mark and Stephanie McMurray featuring chicken francese, butternut squash with sage butter sauce, meatballs marcella, fire roasted vegetables, salad, bread and butter. The raffle prizes include a Grand Prize of $2,000.
