Columbiana chamber to hold 72nd Harvey Awards April 4
COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce is gathering to honor nine of its own during its 72nd Harvey Awards in April.
The city’s council president and a longtime legislator, Richard “Skip” Liston will be bestowed with the Lifetime of Service award during the event, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, April 4 at the Best Western Plus Dutch Village Inn & Suites.
As chamber executive director Bridget Wolsonovich explained, Liston’s commitment to Columbiana is truly remarkable.
“From commemorating the city’s 50th charter anniversary to his ongoing efforts in local governance, Skip’s leadership and dedication have shaped Columbiana’s growth and prosperity,” she said, adding that his recent initiative to review city official compensation demonstrates his unwavering dedication to the city.
Also honored will be Colleen Welton with the chamber’s Unsung Hero Award. Welton not only serves as coordinator for the Columbiana Area Meals On Wheels program but also is the first face generally greeting people at the chamber and tourism office.
“Colleen’s commitment embodies the spirit of service and selflessness, and we are deeply grateful for her contributions to our community,” Wolsonovich explained. “She single-handedly manages the delivery of 30 to 40 daily meals, five days a week, year-round, to vulnerable community members.”
This year’s recipients will also include Educator of the Year (Jeff Jackson of Columbiana High School), Young Citizen of the Year (Rebecca Clark), Outstanding Community Service (Jake Ward), Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Zhenya Motry), Business Person of the Year (Rick Fryda), Business of the Year (STG Communications), and Business Development/New Construction (Salem Regional Medical Center).
Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. with dinner and programming starting at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available until Wednesday, April 2 for $50 per person, $80 per couple, or $300 for a table of eight by calling 330-482-3822.
