Western movie marathon February 22

MINERVA – Minerva’s Roxy Theatre will host a vintage Western movie marathon on Saturday, Feb. 22.

“The Deadly Companions” will begin at 2 p.m., “The Big Trees” at 4 p.m., and “McLintock!” at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5 for one movie or $10 for all three.

In “The Deadly Companions,” starring Brian Keith and Maureen O’Hara, an ex-Army officer accidentally kills a woman’s son and tries to make up for it by escorting the funeral procession through dangerous Indian territory.

“The Big Trees,” starring Kirk Douglas, tells the story of a Quaker colony trying to save the giant sequoias from a timber baron.

John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara star in “McLintock!,” in which wealthy rancher G.W. McLintock uses his power and influence in the territory to keep the peace between farmers, ranchers, land-grabbers, Indians, and corrupt government officials.

The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect and patrons may purchase beverages in official DORA cups from the Normandy Inn, Stoney Inn, Que Pasa Mexican Restaurant, and Sandy Springs Brewing Company and carry them throughout the designated area, including into the Roxy.
