Perry Twp. trustees OK outfitting of new police cruiser

PERRY TOWNSHIP — The board of trustees approved the outfitting of the township’s new police cruiser in its meeting Monday.

Trustees voted unanimously to approve outfitting by Hall Public Safety at a cost of $17,178.87. Trustee Chair Steve Bailey said that Hall was already working on the cruiser and that it would be ready for service “in a couple days,” after which the township could sell the old one.

Trustees also approved a motion to pay the registration fee and mileage for Fire Chief Brandon Smith to attend the annual FDIC International firefighter’s conference in Indianapolis April 9 and 10, and to permit Smith a purchasing allowance of up to $2,000 for any equipment Smith feels would benefit the department. Bailey said that Smith would be covering his own meal and hotel costs.

During his report, Zoning Inspector Dan Bowers said that he’d issued one permit this month and reminded residents to double check their address and ensure they are contacting the correct zoning department.

The board of trustees will meet next at 4 p.m. March 10.

Starting at $2.99/week.
