Changes made, costs added to Crestview’s $84K athletic facility project

COLUMBIANA — Some changes have been added to the Crestview Local School District athletic facility project.

During this month’s regular Board of Education meeting the board approved a change order submitted by Dynamic Structures totaling just over $84,600 for the project.

District Superintendent Dan Hill explained the additional cost is related to added scope within the training facility.

“We added offices, conference room aspects and exterior retaining walls to protect the structure from auto traffic,” he said after the meeting.

During the meeting the board heard from Elementary School Principal Allison Lemaster about a recent visit to the school by Hammond Construction.

She said the Hammond team presented on the new PreK-12 building project as well as various careers involved in the construction process.

Middle school principal Tim Pancake also talked about the new middle school morning announcements, a recent student field trip to WKBN and details about the three middle school Robotics teams that recently qualified for the state competition.

Hill also said that the district is now accepting new kindergarten students for the 2025-26 school year. Registration is available at crestvierebels.org and incoming kindergarteners must be 5 years of age by Sept. 30 to register.

The board then voted to approve the student handbook for the 2025-26 school year.

Supplemental contracts were also

granted to Tobin Bacon, middle school boys track coach; Jill Colaneri, high school varsity assistant track coach; Emily Goerig, middle school girls track coach; Ty Holland, middle school assistant track coach; and Monica McDonough, K-12 summer school director and Tiffany Noling, supervision of a student teacher.

Pupil activity contracts were approved for Maura Belding, high school varsity boys head track coach; Sara Kauffman, high school winter guard; Alyssa Titi, high school musical accompanist and Tristan Huff, high school volunteer varsity assistant track coach.

Substitute positions were approved for Wayne Davis, Jamie Hostetter, Connie Borelli, Alyson Crawford and Benjamin Kotas.

The board also approved the resignation of Eric Bable as musical accompanist for the spring musical in order to direct the program. Someone else was chosen to serve in his place as accompanist, Hill explained.

The next meeting was set for 5 p.m. March 17.
