Students receive sweatshirts through anonymous donation
COLUMBIANA — Every student at Crestview Elementary school has a matching hooded sweatshirt, thanks to a recent anonymous donation.
The district announced on its Facebook page that students were presented with School Spirit themed sweatshirts to “keep our students warm and full of CR school spirit this winter.”
The gold colored sweatshirts are emblazoned with the letters CR in black, for Crestview Rebels.
District Superintendent Daniel Hill said this is the third year in a row that an anonymous donor has stepped up to make this possible for students.
In other matters, Hill and the district also wished to thank the board of education for their service.
Hill presented a proclamation during this month’s board of education meeting acknowledging January as Board of Education recognition month.
“These school board members are serving our community with integrity, honor and a commitment to our children’s futures,” the proclamation stated.
The board then approved several matters, including awarding supplemental contracts to six people for AI training and six people for Teach Better Academy Training at a cost of $22 per hour for up to eight hours during the 2024-25 school year.
The board also awarded a supplemental contract to Andrew Crawford as high school musical assistant.
Stipend payments were also approved for certified personnel Sarah Bacon and Sherry Ervin, and family medical leave was awarded to Sherry Grundy and Charlene Mercure.
Furthermore, the board also approved:
— The Crestview Lake Summer Learning Camp for grades 5-8 and 9-12 at the middle school Aug. 4-15.
— Allowing for inter-district open enrollment students from any school district in Ohio for the 2025-26 school year.
— A memorandum of understanding with the Kent State University for the College Credit Plus program for the 2025-25 school year.
