Perry Twp. Trustees reorganize

PERRY TOWNSHIP — The board of trustees completed its annual re-organizational procedures in its first meeting of the year Monday.

The board’s 2025 re-organizational procedures brought few changes, with 2024 Board Chair Steve Bailey and Vice Chair Jim Armeni both unanimously re-elected to their positions. Trustees will also retain their current department assignments with Bailey, Armeni and Trustee Tony Ieropoli unanimously re-appointed to the police, fire and road departments, respectively.

Armeni and Ieropoli will also continue to serve as the trustee appointments to the Volunteer Firefighters Dependent Fund, and together with two representatives appointed by the fire department, will select the fifth and final member. Trustees will also continue to meet at 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in 2025.

Trustees also discussed the township’s budget for 2025. Perry Township ended 2024 with a final balance of approximately $1,999,867, and is expected to generate approximately $1,418,425 in 2025, with appropriations for 2025 totaling $1,481,425, representing an expected shortfall of approximately $58,207, which will have to be paid out of the township general fund balance, for an expected 2025 end balance of $1,941,660. Trustees voted unanimously to approve 2025 revenues and appropriations

Other routine items approved included a motion to re-hire the township’s employees, authorization for trustees to hire outside legal counsel for township matters on an as needed basis, and the adoption of the Perry Township Cafeteria Plan for 2025.

The board of trustees will meet next at 4 p.m. Jan. 27.
