Noel to seek re-election as Columbiana mayor

COLUMBIANA — Richard Noel announced Tuesday that he will be seeking re-election as the city’s mayor.

Noel already has been elected once to the post, after being appointed in 2020 while council president as then-mayor Bryan Blakeman resigned to be sworn in as Columbiana County treasurer with one year left on his term.

“In my time serving the city of Columbiana, I have been fortunate to witness unprecedented economic growth, a vibrant downtown and thriving community support for our city,” he said. “Through our dedicated city council, staff, boards and commission (as well as) everyday citizens working together, (the city has) become a destination for families and the business community, seeking to call Columbiana home.”

“It is through that positive spirit that I seek the opportunity to continue to serve our community as mayor, as there is still work to be done,” he concluded.

Prior to being elected mayor, Noel had served in various capacities with the city of Columbiana, including on Planning Commission and Council.

In addition to the city’s continued growth, developing a secondary industrial park was a top priority.

In addition, three council seats are up for grabs on Nov. 4, 2025. While Amanda Banner and Ted Souder hold two of the seats, which are two-year terms, a third seat was vacated earlier this week by John Yenges.

Applications are being sought for the vacant seat, while no announcements have been made regarding the other council seats yet.

Starting at $2.99/week.
