Cutrona appointed to correctional inspection committee

State Sen. Al Cutrona will serve on the state Legislature’s Correctional Institution Inspection Committee.

Cutrona, R-Canfield, was appointed to the committee by Senate President Rob McColley, R-Napoleon.

“I look forward to serving on this important committee and touring our correctional facilities across the state,” Cutrona said. “As legislators, evaluating and inspecting these facilities and their programs is crucial. With the state operating budget on the horizon, we must take a good look at these spaces and what resources they could use.”

The bipartisan, joint-legislative committee provides external oversight of Ohio’s adult and juvenile correctional facilities. Its members inspect each state correctional institution at least once every two years, evaluate and assist in the development of programs to improve conditions and operations at the institutions, and report on inspection findings and recommendations at each institution through a biennial report.

The Senate president appoints four members — two from the majority and two from the minority – while the House speaker appoints four members — also two from the majority and two from the minority.

Starting at $2.99/week.
