Madison Twp. meetings
Madison Township trustees have established their meeting schedule for 2025. Regular meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in the township hall on the first and third Wednesday of each month, with the first meeting to be held on Jan. 15.
TQGIBT to meet Jan. 21
That Quilt Group I Belong To (TQGIBT) will meet next at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at The Rotary Building at Fair Park on Oak Street in Canfield. This guild of very friendly quilters meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Fair Park in Canfield. They welcome quilters of all skill levels, from beginner to expert. Doors usually open at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Members are quick to offer help, if asked, and share their quilting projects and experiences. These philanthropic stitchers make regular donations to Hospice of the Valley, Akron Children’s Hospital, Beatitude House, Sleep in Heavenly Peace and more. No community breakfast
The Damascus Methodist Church and Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church remind community members there is no breakfast this month, Jan. 18, due to renovations in the kitchen at Damascus. Current work is now inside.
Hack the Valley 2025
The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center will host Hack the Valley 2025: Frostbyte Edition, the region’s only high school 48-hour hackathon Jan. 17 through 19. High school students are invited to explore technology, innovation and collaboration. A hackathon is a creative marathon where participants work in teams to solve problems, build projects, and learn hands-on skills in fields like coding, robotics, and app development. Hack the Valley is a unique opportunity to foster creativity, teamwork, and STEM learning. Students will gain valuable experience, connect with mentors, and compete for prizes and recognition. Hackers: Compete to create innovative tech solutions; Campers: Attend workshops to learn new skills; Mentors: Guide students and share expertise; and Sponsors: Support young innovators and inspire future leaders.
