Columbiana school board makes 2025 officers selections

COLUMBIANA — Adjustments were made during the Columbiana BOE’s reorganizational meeting Tuesday.

Tony Roncone, last year’s board vice president, was voted in as 2025 president, while Michael Clark will succeed him as board vice president.

There was no public in attendance to offer input regarding next year’s school calendar.

The school board:

— Approved contract addendums for Kim Sharshan, elementary principal/assistant superintendent; Jason Martin, middle school principal; and Leslie Best, transportation coordinator.

— Renewed membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for 2025-26 school year.

— Approved the sixth- and seventh-grade choir field trip to Washington D.C. for the America Sings Festival from May 9-11.

— Approved the College Credit Plus Memorandum of Understanding with Kent State University for the upcoming school year.

— Voted to employ Bobbie Derby, bus driver; Robert Spaite and Eamon Eavers, winter weight room supervisors; and Janeann Luxeuil, substitute bus driver.

— Approve volunteer Leigh Ann Kocanjer for the spring musical.

— Authorized a salary change due to a step change for Ronald Moser.

After meeting for more than a hour in executive session to discuss labor negotiations, school board members returned to regular session and adjourned with no additional action.

Also during the reorganizational meeting, Clark was appointed as the district’s delegate to the Ohio School Board Association’s annual conference with board member Kelly Williamson serving as his alternate.

Regular school board meetings will continue to be held at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in the high school media center throughout 2025 as governed by board bylaws.

The next board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 in the high school media center for its next regular session.
