Columbiana approves plans for pop-ups at Town Center

COLUMBIANA — The city’s planning commission met briefly Tuesday night to approve two site plan reviews for applicants seeking locations in the Town Center area.

Bergen Giordani, co-owner of Gorant Chocolatier, presented plans for a holiday pop-up shop within the Sabi’s Restaurant in Columbiana’s Red Brick Commons to evaluate the feasibility of the market there for a year-round retail store.

Sales at the pop-up, which will be in the front of a neighboring storefront that Sabi’s uses as an overflow dining room, will begin shortly before the Valentine’s Day holiday and run through Mother’s Day, she explained.

The commission also approved the review of a proposed food truck presented by Jeff Porter at Seepe Burger, 93 Town Center Ave. According to Porter, who requested the spot for a food truck at his location, Seepe’s serves breakfast on Saturday mornings and has a coffee food truck that is interested in servicing his clients if the spot is granted.

In other action, councilman Ted Souder was re-elected as the planning commission’s chairman.
