Crestview students look to future
COLUMBIANA — Crestview Local School District students are continuing to benefit from options aimed at expanding their career exploration.
The school district announced this week that high school juniors were able to participate in the Career Exploration Program (CEP) facilitated through the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
The Nov. 14 event provided students with valuable insights into their strengths, interests, and potential career paths across a wide range of industries, the district said in the press release.
The ASVAB test, which measures aptitude in areas such as math, science, and verbal skills, helps students identify careers that align with their skills and interests, according to the release.
The Career Exploration Program is part of Crestview High School’s ongoing commitment to support students in making informed decisions about their futures.
“This program is a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain clarity about their skills and career options,” Rick Fawcett, Career and Transition Specialist at Crestview High School, said. “We are proud to offer resources like the ASVAB to help guide our juniors as they begin to explore potential career paths after graduation.”
The district said the event was part of Crestview High School’s broader efforts to equip students with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s competitive job market, whether they choose to pursue higher education, vocational training, or enter the workforce directly.
In 2022, Fawcett was instrumental in helping the district coordinate and host a college fair for interested area students.
The fair was held at the high school and attracted participation from at least a dozen colleges.
At that time Hill said that the administration was working to have better alignment of supplemental services and programs from high school to post-secondary.
