Wellsville BOE discusses discipline

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville Board of Education’s first order of business during Monday night’s board meeting was to enter an executive session for the matter of discussing discipline. The board members voted to return to the regular open session of the meeting with no action taken.

Following the executive session, the board members went to the new business portion of the meeting where they approved a donation in the amount of $115 from Randy Thrasher for Jr. High Track; field trips to Grave Creek Mound, Moundsville, West Virginia for the fourth-grade students, and Washington D.C. for the eighth grade and CCP American History students; an agreement with the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities to provide educational services for students from the district; the preschool handbooks for 2024-2025 and the Wellsville Gifted Identification and Service Plan for the 2024-2025 school year.

During the finance portion of the meeting, board members approved the financial report including transfers and modification of funds, Then and Now Certificates, the treasurer’s report as presented, long term substitute salaries, the S.A. Comunale fire systems inspection contract from November 2024 through October 2025, a contract with Liberty Center School District for handicapped students, The Columbiana County Educational Service Center contract, for E-rate filing, a contract with Wills Mobility & Vision Services, LLC, the transfer $299,548.20 of the payment from Southfield Energy LLC from the General fund to the Permanent Improvement fund, an amendment to the program agreement with Access Council, four dock days for staff member, unpaid maternity leave after sick days have been used for two staff members, and authorizing Meta Solutions (Metropolitan Educational Technology Association), acting jointly as a member of the Ohio School Consortium (“Consortium”), to issue a request for proposal for the purchase of competitive retail electric service from the lowest and best bidder submitted to the consortium and authorizing the board to purchase competitive retail electric service from such bidder.

During the personnel portion, the board members approved additions to the substitute list, the resignations of Marsha Ervin, high school math teacher effective June 6, the hiring of a part time payables clerk, numerous supplement contracts and coaches a stipend for chaperoning for Camp Fitch and a stipend for chaperones for Washington D.C.

Board members also approved employing the firm of Gingo and Bair Law, LLC to serve as legal counsel for the Board of Education.

The Wellsville Board of Education meets the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Wellsville Jr. Sr. High Medica Center. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 18.
