Way Station accepting donations

The Way Station will be including Thanksgiving specific food items in the November food distribution at the Columbiana location. They are currently accepting donations to supplement pantry items. Suggested items to donate are: small frozen chickens, Cornish hens or On-Cor turkey, stuffing, gravy, instant potatoes, corn, green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, canned pie mix, pie crust, sweet condensed milk, salad dressing, condiments and frozen pies. Distribution will occur at The Way Station, 769 Springfield Road, Columbiana, on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m., recipients residing within 15 miles are reminded to park inside the gate and wait for someone to give them a number. The Way Station is a local non-profit with three locations, that exists to display the love of Jesus in practical ways to individuals, families, and communities. The organization seeks to achieve this through a monthly food distribution, free diapers, hands-on on-site job training in addition to a job’s readiness program and emergency assistance for those who have experienced a tragedy. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with monetary gifts mailed to The Way Station, PO Box 449, Columbiana, OH 44408 or made online at thewaystationinc.org.

‘Cook’s Night Off’ Nov. 6

The Winona Methodist Church will be serving another “Cook’s Night Off” drive-thru dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out). They’ll be serving Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, and a frosted brownie – all for a suggested donation of $13 each. Dinners can be pre-ordered any time before noon that day by calling the church office at 330-222-1211. Pre-ordered dinners must be picked up by 6 p.m. The church is located at 32114 Winona Road, Winona.

CWC Holiday Home Tour

Save the date for Columbiana Women’s Club’s (CWC) Holiday Home Tour 2024, taking place 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8. Guests will enjoy a self-guided tour of five area homes decked in holiday decor, plus coffee/tea and cookies at the Columbiana Women’s Club, during the 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. timeframe on either Saturday, Dec. 7 or Sunday, Dec. 8. Locations and themes to be announced. Cost is $20 per person. Proceeds benefit the CWC, a civic organization operating a century house at 121 N. Main St. in historic Columbiana. EP Library Nov. book sale

The Friends of the East Palestine Memorial Public Library will be holding their annual November book sale on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a huge selection of DVDs, fiction and non-fiction books (both paperback and hardback). The book sale is held in the basement of the Library.
