Trial date set for EL man charged with rape, sex charges
LISBON — A trial date of Sept. 30 was set for Joseph A. Goss, an East Liverpool man charged with multiple sex-related charges, including three counts of rape.
Goss, 41, Hollywood Avenue, appeared Thursday morning in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Scott Washam for a scheduling conference related to his case.
He was accompanied by his defense attorney, Joe King, and was in the custody of a county sheriff’s deputy. He remains incarcerated in the county jail under a $75,000 cash or surety bond, which was continued.
The state was represented by county Assistant Prosecutor Alec Beech.
Besides setting the date for a jury trial, Washam also scheduled a final status hearing for 10:15 a.m. Sept. 12
Goss was indicted last month for three counts of first-degree felony rape, a single count of second-degree felony sexual battery and two counts of third-degree felony gross sexual imposition.
According to the indictment, Goss allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a child 11 to 12 years old and had sexual contact with the child from Jan. 1, 2022 to March 6, 2024.
