COLUMBIANA –The American Legion Unit 290 Auxiliary announced recently a donation of $1,000 to support the Columbiana Project Playground.

This contribution underscores the Auxiliary’s commitment to fostering community development and enhancing recreational opportunities for the residents of Columbiana.

The Columbiana Project Playground –a grassroots initiative aimed at constructing a state-of-the-art inclusive playground –has been a focal point for community engagement and collaboration. With the support of organizations like the American Legion Unit 290 Auxiliary, the dream of a vibrant and inclusive playground is steadily becoming a reality.

“We are thrilled to contribute to such a worthy cause,” said one member of the organization. “Ensuring that our community has access to safe and enjoyable recreational spaces is essential for promoting the well-being of our residents, particularly our children. The Columbiana Project Playground aligns perfectly with our mission to support initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all.”

The donation from the American Legion Unit 290 Auxiliary will go directly toward the funding needed for the construction and maintenance of the Columbiana Project Playground. This support will not only benefit current residents but also leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the American Legion Unit 290 Auxiliary for their generosity and commitment to our community,” said Michaela Good, President of the Columbiana Project Playground. “Their donation brings us one step closer to our vision of a playground that will inspire creativity, promote physical activity, and foster social connections among our residents.”

The American Legion Unit 290 Auxiliary encourages other organizations and individuals to join in supporting the Columbiana Project Playground. Together, a vibrant and inclusive space will be created where families can gather, children can play, and memories can be made.

The original Funland was built by volunteers and community members in 1995 and has since served as the foundation for many years of family memories and traditions. The wear and tear of generations of gatherings and playtime has left the current state of the playground in need of repair and upgrades consistent with modern necessities and inclusivity. Like the original project, the new committee was established to assemble volunteers and increase community engagement to once again mobilize construction efforts for a more modern and inclusive design that future generations can enjoy!

Starting at $2.99/week.
