Goshen hires fiscal officer
GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — Township trustees have hired a part-time fiscal officer in anticipation of a change in personnel.
Trustees this week hired Michele Barratt as a part-time fiscal officer at $18 per hour through March 31, 2023. Current Fiscal Officer Tom Knoedler made the recommendation for the hire.
Trustee Teresa Stratton abstained from voting due to Barratt being her sister-in-law.
Knoedler is retiring at the end of March 2023, one year short of his elected term. Trustees will make an appointment for his replacement at that time. The appointed fiscal officer would then have to seek election on the November 2023 ballot to remain in the position.
Stratton said the trustees received five applications and “all were very good.” She said Knoedler recommended Barratt based on her familiarity with skills required for the position.
In his minutes, Knoedler “thanked the candidates for their interest in the position and noted it was a hard decision to pick the best candidate.”
Barratt is self employed as a crafter. She resides on Middletown Road, Beloit.
