Rockin’ Out Cancer event set for August 13
ALLIANCE – Rockin’ Out Cancer returns for its 11th year Aug. 13, expanding its support to three families now.
With the motto “11 Years of ROC’n and We Keep on ROLL’n,” the 501c3 organization will provide funds for three families affected by cancer this year – those of John Blevins, Billie Campbell and Donny Heverly.
“The ROC committee decided to do something unique to the overwhelming support of the community and the community businesses. We are going to celebrate three families at our event this year and all three will receive a portion of the proceeds from the event in addition to the Arthur G. James and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at Ohio State,” said Tony Pasco, founder of ROC.
The stories of the three recipients are available at www.rockinoutcancer.org and will shared at the event, which will be held at the childhood home Pasco, 2017 Knox School Road, Alliance.
“Because of the overwhelming business support from our local businesses, this year the ROC committee has decided to try something unique and try to help a few families battling cancer,” Pasco said. “100% of the proceeds from our event goes to those battling cancer, and a percentage goes to the Arthur G. James & Richard J. Solove Research Institute at Ohio State. Last year, we were able to donate over $60,000.”
The annual event, started with the loss of a brother to cancer, has been fueled by the support of members of this community to make our Rockin’ Out Cancer event the success it continues to have, according to Pasco.
“We have support from several local businesses and even children in our community have joined in supporting our cause,” he said. “This is our 11th annual concert event where we celebrate those we have lost, those who have won and those who are fighting the fight we all know as Cancer.”
The lineup this year will include Dan and The Man, Geno Stroia II, Thrown 2 Gether, and BAD JUJU Cleveland. Rockin’ Out Cancer also welcomes The Alliance High School class of 1987 as they will be holding their class reunion at ROC this year.
Gates open at 4 p.m., with music until midnight. Food will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 pre-sale, $30 day of show and covers bands, food and drinks. Kids 12 and under are free. There will also be a silent auction.
The event will be held rain or shine.
