Johnson re-elected as county GOP chairman

LISBON — Columbiana County Republican Party Chairman Dave Johnson of Salem was re-elected as leader of the county GOP during a meeting Saturday morning at the New Lisbon Masonic Center, just east of Lisbon.

Johnson was elected to his eighth four-year term by a unanimous vote of the county’s newly-elected Republican Central Committee. He’s been serving as Republican Party Chairman since 1989, with the exception of two years when he took a break in 2001, making him one of the longest serving county chairmen in the state of Ohio.

Johnson has also served as the 33rd District Republican State Central Committeeman for the past 26 years, making him the second most senior ranking member of that body.

For the past six years, Johnson has served as Treasurer of the Ohio Republican Party, a period during which the state Republican Party has raised record sums of money and has achieved record successes in electing Republicans to public office statewide.

Columbiana County Recorder James Armeni was re-elected Vice Chairman of the county Republican Party; Crystal Siembida Boggs was elected Party Treasurer and Katina Landgraff was elected Party Secretary, each by the unanimous vote of the committee.

Party Headquarters Coordinator Jane Wilson was named Chair Lady of the county Republican Party.

Newly proposed bylaws were introduced and unanimously adopted by the body, followed by a formal swearing in of the officers and Central & Executive Committee members by county Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam.

Johnson will be on the Aug. 2 special primary ballot for his bid for re-election as Republican State Committeeman in the 33rd District, representing Mahoning, Columbiana and Carroll counties. (Submitted material)
