CCCTC Blood Drive

In March, Columbiana County Career and Technical Center senior Health Academy student Kaylee Colkitt of Leetonia organized and sponsored a blood drive at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center as part of her senior capstone project. The senior capstone project is completed by all senior students at the CCCTC. The project consists of three parts — a project the student develops and sees through to fruition, a research paper, and a presentation that is a culmination of the project and paper. Kaylee chose to organize and sponsor a blood drive as a portion of her project in which she researched and studied blood disorders. She was able to collect 24 units of blood during the drive. Every two seconds someone in the U.S needs blood or platelets. For information or to become a blood donor visit the American Red Cross website. Pictured, senior Health Academy students Haleigh Potts of Beaver Local, left, and Emilee Stollenwerk of East Palestine assisted at the blood drive. Here they assist senior CCCTC student Carmen Inman of Beaver Local as she donates blood. Submitted photo
