E. Liverpool council members take oaths
EAST LIVERPOOL — Standing in for Judge Dominic Frank, Judge John Campbell called the occasion festive as he swore in members of city council Wednesday. “It’s my honor and privilege this morning to swear in a number of you as city officials,” Campbell said.
Campbell first introduced John Torma who he congratulated for 31 years of service as city council president.
Next, three out of four ward councilmen (Tom Beagle, Jeff Kreefer and Scott Barrett were present, and Fred Rayl was absent) stood before the court and took their oaths. Then, Campbell swore in the three at-large councilmen Robert Nizar Jr., Brian Kerr, and John Mercer. Finally, before adjourning, Campbell swore in city treasurer Deb Fickes.
The next council meeting will be Monday at 6 p.m., Torma said, and said for now there will be only one council meeting scheduled per month. “Right now while this COVID is ramping up, we’re probably going to go to one meeting a month with a special meeting if needed and that will follow on the third Monday of the month,” Torma said.
