RTIP to meet
The Governing Board of the Carroll, Columbiana, and Stark Regional Transportation Improvement Project (RTIP) will meet at 9 a.m. today in the Community Room at the Minerva Public Library, 677 Lynnwood Dr.
Jobs readiness class
The Way Station of Columbiana is once again resuming its free jobs readiness class, “Jobs; Ready, Set, Go” Oct. 18 and with a new perk. At the completion of the four-week program, participants will receive a refurbished chrome book. The program is housed at the Columbiana Way Station, 769 Springfield Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday starting Oct. 18. Spots to participate in the class are still available and can be reserved by calling The Way Station, 330-482-5072. Throughout the program, participants can expect to regularly interact with business leaders who are in a position to hire, participate in mock interviews, create a fine-tuned professional resume, become familiar with job search engines, and future identifies their personal goals. The Way Station is a non-profit organization that exists as a community resource for families and individuals in need while reflecting the love of Jesus in practical ways.
Holiday Craft & Vendor Show
Irondale Fire Department will host its Holiday Craft & Vendor Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Saline Township Complex, 164 Country Road 50, Hammondsville. The event will feature local vendors and artisans selling home decor, apparel, jewelry, handpainted signs, wreaths, wooded craft items, baked goods and much more. The event will also feature a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and food. There will also be a drop off area for canned food donations to benefit the food pantry.
Spaghetti dinner fundraiser
The Chester Sons of the American Legion will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Ericka Heaton from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at the American Legion. The meal is dine in or take out and costs $10 for adults or $7 for children. Erika is a seventh grader at Beaver Local who was severely burned Aug. 18 when a fuel can exploded on her.
Beginning Nov. 1, state Route 172 will close for five days in the Guilford Lake area from Lake Knoll Avenue to Hanna Drive for a culvert replacement project. The detour is state Route 9 south to U.S. Route 30 east, U.S. Route 30 east back to state Route 172, and reverse. The completion date is Nov. 5, weather permitting.
EAST LIVERPOOL — Joe Klimchak, in-game host at PNC Park for the Pittsburgh Pirates, will be sharing his “Growth Mindset Solution: Be Ordinary” presentation with young people in the tri-state area at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Northside Church (702 Orchard Grove Ave. in East Liverpool).
Klimchak’s core belief is that we experience extraordinary by allowing ourselves to be ordinary thereby making any dream possible. He will also be sharing his faith in Jesus Christ during his presentation.
There will be door prizes and some games for the young people in attendance that evening. All students in grades 4-12 are invited to attend along with their parents/guardians. A love offering will be taken up during the evening to help offset the cost to Teen World Ministries for having Klimchak do his presentation.
