TRUCK LOSES TRAILER, BACKHOE
Morning Journal/Ron Firth
Workers prepare to flip a backhoe upright after the backhoe and trailer came loose from a Norfolk Southern truck during a turn northbound from the bypass to state Route 9 at 12:42 p.m. Friday. The driver, Joseph Frye, 59, East Liverpool, wasn’t injured. No citation was issued due to a mechanical equipment failure causing the trailer and backhoe to come loose and roll off the road. Sinsley’s Towing and Davidson’s Towing both arrived to flip the damaged equipment back over. The Ohio Department of Transportation repaired the damage to the blacktop. The trailer was taken to the Norfolk Southern rail station while the backhoe remained at the scene until the rental company could arrive and take charge of it.
