Oak Glen threat investigated

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va.– The Hancock County Sheriff’s office is looking into a reported threat earlier this week at Oak Glen High School.

According to Sheriff Scott Gittings, he had little information to release now as the school’s Prevention Resource Officer is still conducting an investigation into the validity of the threat.

The sheriff’s office provides the school with a PRO.

Sheriff Gittings was unaware whether the alleged suspect was in school and directed questions regarding specific details to OGHS principal Dave Smith, who failed to return a message for comment Thursday afternoon.

The nature of the threat or any possible motive (if any) was not revealed.

Gittings added that is important for people to not assume everything they read on social media pages is true and do their due diligence to confirm its accuracy.
