Hickman named Salineville street foreman

SALINEVILLE — Village council held a brief special meeting Tuesday to approve the hiring of Scott Hickman as the village street foreman.

According to Mayor Linda Adams, Hickman has lived in the village for 15 years and serves with the Salineville Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders.

Additionally, he has experience working as part of the village summer program when he was younger. He is familiar with the village streets, experienced with the equipment and with leading a team.

The five remaining council members unanimously voted to hire Hickman. Former councilman Jim Wilson resigned following the executive session when council decided to create the position of streets foreman.

Adams said it was not an easy decision because council received some very good applicants for the new position.

The full-time streets foreman position is paid $18 per hour for a 40-hour week and includes a cell phone allowance, clothing allowance, paid holidays, vacation time, personal time and sick leave.

Also on the agenda for Tuesday’s special meeting was review and passage of minutes from an earlier council meeting in September that had not been available the last time council met.
