Winona Ruritans

The Winona Ruritans are now taking orders for their Winter Stock Up Sales of whole hog sausage and homemade scrapple. Pick up is Oct. 9. To place an order contact any club member or Lee Stamp at 330-831-8969, Homer Althouse at 330-222-1863 or Bob Doyle at 330-509-5486.

Lisbon Grange

Lisbon Grange will again host a drive thru Ice Cream Sale Oct. 2, 2021 from 2-6 p.m. or until sold out at the Grange on Route 30, 2 miles west of Lisbon. The sale will feature vanilla, apple and pumpkin ice cream in quarts only for $10 per quart.

The Grange will also be selling ice cream later that evening at “Night of Mayhem” which will be held at the fairgrounds.

Domestic Violence Awareness

Ozer Ministries Inc. will be sponsoring four mini scavenger hunts during the month of October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A series of clues will be released on the ministry’s Facebook page and the events page at ozerministriesinc.com by 10 a.m. Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22. Each hunt will last one week. Clues will consist of pictures to take, questions to answer, etc. Rules will be announced along with the clues. All correct entries each week will be placed in a drawing to win a $25 gift card to Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks or Amazon. Winners will be announced the following Monday on Facebook and the blog of Ozer Ministries website.

Fairfield Twp. Clean-up

Fairfield Township is providing a Community Clean-up for the residences of Fairfield Township from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 7 and 8 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at the township government center, 3062 Fairfield School Road. Items that will be accepted include the following: car and light truck tires (limit 10 per household), large household items, and scrap metals. Items that will NOT be accepted include the following: electronics, items with Freon, and no paint or chemicals.

Wellsville Library

The Wellsville Library will be hosting an evening of spooky fun with local ghost hunter hobbyists Jack & Mike presenting Paranormal Roads at 6 p.m. Oct. 25. The presenters will talk about ghost hunting and provide evidence of paranormal activity. Paranormal Roads is an adult program, with limited seating. Call 330-532-1526 to reserve a spot.

Pasta with a Purpose

Pasta with a Purpose, a benefit for Terri Hayes Stoffel, will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Oct. 9 at the Chester VFW Post 6450. The menu will include Bernardi’s homemade spaghetti sauce, pasta, salad and bread. There will also be a bake sale, Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing. Aultman Hospital HealthTalks

Aultman Hospital will present the following free virtual HealthTalks programs during the month of October. All sessions will be held on Zoom and reservations are required. Oct. 6: Genealogy Research at Stark Library will be presented by Stephanie Houck, C.P.L.S., at noon via Zoom. Join Houck to discover how the Genealogy Department at the Stark Library can help individuals to begin tracing their family history.

Oct. 13: COVID-19 Vaccine Update will be presented by Erin Hayden, Pharm.D., at noon via Zoom. During this discussion, Hayden will explore the updates to the COVID-19 vaccine and examine how the Delta variant can affect vaccine efficacy.

Oct. 18: Overview of Back Pain will be presented by Jeffrey Watts, D.O., at 1 p.m. via Zoom. Listen in as Dr. Watts discusses back pain. This presentation will cover the basic anatomy of the back, common causes of back pain and the treatment options available.

Oct. 20: Life After Breast Cancer Educational Series: Sexuality will be presented by Tara Ferguson, MSN, APRN-CNP, at 1 p.m. via Zoom. This presentation will explore body image, sexuality and intimacy after breast cancer.

Oct. 29: Structural Heart Disease will be presented by Sharan Rufus, M.D., at noon via Zoom. Join Sharan Rufus, M.D., to learn about the different types of structural heart disease, the symptoms associated with each type and options for minimally invasive treatments.

Algonquin Mill Fall Festival

After a year hiatus, the Algonquin Mill Fall Festival returns for the 50th time Oct. 8, 9 and 10. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is $8 per vehicle. Primitive camping is available at $15 per night. The Mill complex is located 4 miles south of Carrollton on State Route 332. Festival goers will enjoy homemade foods such as apple butter, sauerkraut, cookies and bean soup. There will be craft demonstrations and this year a special 50th Anniversary quilt raffle. Kids can visit the petting zoo, have their faces painted and ride the kiddy train. Live entertainment on stage will include cloggers, bluegrass bands, vocal groups and the Dulci-More.
