Leetonia BOE seeks new member following resignation
LEETONIA — The Leetonia school board is seeking a new member after the resignation of its president.
The board Tuesday night accepted the resignation of Christina Herron effective immediately because she is moving out of the district. She was elected by residents in November 2017 and was serving this year as president.
The term expires at the end of this year. Anyone interested in filling the position should submit a letter of interest to Treasurer Jennifer Coldsnow at firstname.lastname@example.org by Aug. 6. For information call Coldsnow at 330-427-6594 Ext. 1020.
Herron said she is fortunate to have held a position on the board and is sorry she has to leave before her term expires.
“It has been a great learning experience and all (the board members) have been amazing to work with,” she said.
Other board members noted she was a good board member and will be missed, while Superintendent Dennis Dunham said she has “made a difference in the lives of the kids in our community.”
In other business, Dunham reported the administration has not made a decision on face coverings for the upcoming school year, but that there is a local superintendents meeting with the Columbiana County Health Department Thursday where some guidance should be made available.
Dunham noted, however, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is still recommending masks be worn by anyone who is not vaccinated and all children ages 5 through 12.
