BOE, administrators meeting

Members of the East Liverpool City School District board of education and administrators will be meeting to discuss goals and objectives for the 2021-2022 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 3 and a half day on Wednesday, Aug. 4 at Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center in Cambridge. No board approved action will be taken.

EL CIC special meeting

East Liverpool’s Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) will hold a special meeting at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 at city council chambers, 126 W. Fifth St. to discuss the Thompson building as well as the former Riverview Florist, Motor Lodge and East End elementary properties; properties recently purchased at Sheriff’s sale; demolition of 812 Division and 1058 Ephriam streets; and possible action on a lot of at Ohio Avenue.

St. Anthony Club

St. Anthony Club, 561 Beaver Ave., Midland, will offer take out dinners from noon to 5 p.m., Aug. 15. Dinners cost $15 and include stuffed pork chop, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable and dessert; or bite sized rigatoni with Bolognese sauce, vegetable, homemade bread and butter and dessert. The public is welcome and pick up is at the side door. Reservations are available at 724-643-1820.

From Garden to Pantry

The Hancock County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS) will be holding the second From Garden to Pantry – Preserving What You Grow workshop at 10 a.m. Aug. 18 at Camp Aura in New Cumberland. If enough interest is shown a second class will be offered at 4 p.m. Aug. 19. This workshop will cover both pressure and water bath canning. Anyone interested in attending this workshop needs to contact the WVU Hancock County Extension office no later than Aug. 10 at 304-564-3805. Because space is limited a paid RSVP is required. Cost of the workshop is $15 and includes all materials as well as a working lunch.

School supplies needed

The Way Stations of Columbiana and East Palestine require school supply donations to support their yearly giveaway. Supplies needed are as follows: rulers, markers, pens/pencils, 1-inch three-ring binders, erasers, safety scissors, glue sticks, folders with pockets, calculators, filler paper, pencil sharpener, composition notebooks, spiral notebooks, book bags, and lunch boxes. Drop off donations at a Way Station location to the cashier any day during store hours; 769 Springfield Road, Columbiana or 109 Rebecca St., East Palestine by Aug. 12.

To receive back-to-school assistance at the Columbiana location call 330-482-5072 or walk in to make an appointment for the Aug. 16-18 giveaway. Bring the child’s report card or document that has their birthday.

To receive school assistance at the East Palestine location attend the East Palestine Chamber of Commerce Back to School Bash from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at the East Palestine High School. No sign-ups are needed to participate in the East Palestine giveaway.

Salem Community Pantry

Salem Community Pantry food distribution, 794 E. Third St., will offer choice shopping inside the pantry serving residents who reside within the 44460 zip code (proof required) from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays. CDC guidelines followed pertaining to mask requirements. Shopping requirements limited to twice per month.
