Three indicted for hazardous waste
SEBRING — A Mahoning County grand jury indicted two men from Sebring and another from New Waterford Thursday on hazardous waste charges.
Brothers Samual and Brian Hopper of Sebring and Richard Sickelsmith were indicted in connection with the storage of tons of hazardous and toxic waste inside an old plant on West New York Avenue in Sebring, according to news partner WKBN-TV.
They are charged along with their company, Sebring Industrial Plating, on felony hazardous waste charges. Sickelsmith used to own the plant, and the Hoppers now operate it.
Back in March, police and investigators with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency searched the building and found drums containing the pollutants following an investigation that began in 2018.
