Hicks & Hayseeds 4-H Club

The Hicks & Hayseeds 4-H club met June 15 at advisor Judy Brown’s house. To begin the meeting, members recited the pledges. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and upcoming clinic dates were announced. The club also voted on the theme of the fair booth, which will be on display at the fair. Plans were made for the next “cooking for the homeless” meal to be prepared next month.

There were several demonstrations given to the club. First was Logan Casto, who showed ways to bait a hook. Next was Hayden Casto, who instructed how to administer iron medicine shots to newborn pigs, followed by Sid Casto with a demonstration to the group on how to make a banana smoothie. Then Ava Wood demonstrated how to make a duct tape purse. Finally, Logan Wood informed everyone about four-wheeler ATV maintenance.

To end the evening, members enjoyed some desserts and swim time.

West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club

The West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club met June 19 at The First Brethren Church in North Georgetown.

President Roban Mayer welcomed everyone. She asked Viola Blanchard to lead the ladies with the “Pledge of Allegiance” and singing “God Bless America.” Bev Yaggi gave a prayer.

Secretary Sandy Bates read the minutes and Mary Belle Metzgar read the treasurer’s report.

The club’s first bake sale will be Saturday, July 3 at Timmeshami Campgrounds and the next one will be Saturday, July 24 at the Homeworth Homecoming. The club picnic will July 19, with Leona Reichenbach and Sandy Bates the hostesses.

It was announced that Stark Credit will be having a Shredding Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 21. Two large bags are allowed per person.

Blanchard and Metzgar were the hostesses.
