Sub sale to benefit Sophia’s Center

The Knights of Columbus Council 1818 in Salem will be holding a Super Bowl sub sandwich sale with pickup on Saturday, Feb. 6, one day before the big game. Cost is $5 per sub. All proceeds will support the winning team at the Sophia’s Women’s Center. Orders must be placed by Jan. 29: call (330) 831-5099; (330) 614-2063; or (234) 320-8159. Sandwiches can then be picked up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 6 in the parking lot behind St. Paul School (enter on Ohio Avenue).

Angels holding online auction

Angels for Animals is currently holding its Winter Blues Online Auction. The sale ends at 6 p.m. Jan. 26, with an in-person preview from 3 to 6 p.m. Jan. 25 and pickup from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 30. The sale includes 466 lots highlighted by a signed Steuben glassware, Williams Adams platter, Faberge glass, Ethan Allen clock, sterling silver jewelry, antique furniture, Vera Bradley purses, Longaberger baskets, dolls, pewter, china, pottery, quilts, framed art, pocket watches, clocks, Christmas bundles, lamps, teapots, children’s furniture, Precious Moments and more. Proceeds benefit Angels for Animals help homeless and abandoned animals.

SHS gift shop open by appointment

The Salem Historical Society Gift Shop, 239 S. Lundy Ave., will be open by appointment. The shop has several Christmas items and are well-stocked with books by Dale Shaffer and other local authors, sound tracks, City Directories, Salem High School annuals, table runner of Salem’s school buildings, Columbiana County quilt, materials on Underground Railroad, souvenirs and books of the 1906, 1956, 2006 Salem anniversaries and 1st Day Covers from Salem’s Bicentennial postmarked 2006. New items are a hand-thrown Salem glazed pottery jar made in the USA and the 2021 calendar, featuring items in the museum’s toy room. Visitors will receive a 100-page Spirit of Salem ’76’ – Bicentennial Edition which contains events of Salem’s History during the visit. Persons attending are required to wear a face mask. Wellsville pantry open Friday

The Wellsville First Baptist Church, 1401 Center St., will hold its regular drive-thru food pantry from 3-5 p.m. Friday. ID is required. Pantry officials ask that the vehicle trunks be open and that the drivers wear masks. The pantry is accepting new clients from Wellsville only.

ITAM serving fish on Fridays

The Leetonia ITAM Club will be holding carryout fish fries every Friday through Lent, April 2. Times are 5-8 p.m. There will be a full menu. For orders, call 330/427-9900.

Church offers rigatoni dinner

The New Lisbon Presbyterian Church will hold a drive-thru rigatoni dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 20. The meal also includes salad and cake for $8. Pickup times are 4-5 p.m. Orders must be made by noon on Jan. 15; call the church office at 424-5107.

VFW choice: steak or chicken salad

The Washingtonville VFW Auxiliary, 575 S. County Road, will hold its annual steak or chicken salad sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or sold out Saturday, Jan. 16. Salads include all fresh ingredients and fresh cut fries, plus choice of dressing and a roll. Cost is $10. Order to pick up through drive by at 330-427-2533.

Clothes Closet open on Saturday

A clothing giveaway will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Clothes Closet located behind Pine Lake Christian Church, 636 Pine Lake Road, in Sebring. Clothing is available with items for men, women, and children. The clothing is available to anyone who could make good use of it. There are no restrictions based on income or employment. They only ask that patrons take items that will be used by their immediate family, though they are always happy to discuss exceptions to that guideline. Donations of good, gently used clothing items are also welcome. Clothing is accepted for any season. Call about making clothing donations as a drop-off box is not available.
