Goshen Trustees OK Green Twp. police pact

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP – Township trustees this week approved a five-year contract to provide police protection to Green Township.

Trustees approved the contract at $282,924 annually, paid monthly at $23,577. The only change in the contract from the previous one is the wording on the price of gasoline, which reduces the time frame for payment from 90 days to 30.

In other business, trustees agreed to use CARES money to make the administration building, which also houses the police department, compliant with COVID-19 specifications. Trustees also provided $8,500 to the Damascus Fire Department for COVID-19 related expenses for isolation gowns and respirator masks.

Trustees also approved the purchase of a cement mixer for approximately $500 that will be used for foundations at township cemeteries. The purchase is in response to Road Foreman Matt Springer’s report of problems getting vendors to install foundations on a timely schedule. The road department will begin pouring foundations with the new mixer using a new way which has been successful for other area townships.

Also at the meeting, trustees promoted police officer Niko Pacifico to full-time; agreed to pay Recycling Coordinator Paul Manypenny two hours for attendance at the monthly trustees meeting, the same as Springer; and approved the purchase of four new copiers with installation from Salem Computer Center for $2,290.
