Chase leads to multiple charges for Salineville teen
LEETONIA– An teen is facing multiple charges after leading police on a chase from Salem to Columbiana early Tuesday.
Jason S. Ramsey, 18, 34649 Walnut Ridge, Salineville, was charged with eluding/fleeing police, speeding (85 in a 35 zone), no driver’s license, stop sign violation, left of center and failure to control after crashing a vehicle on state Route 344 near state Route 11 while being pursued at approximately 12:30 a.m. by Leetonia police, who had been made aware of the pursuit that started in Salem and was called off.
The Leetonia officer observed the vehicle travel through the village and attempted to stop the driver upon witnessing a traffic violation, but Ramsey fled on state Route 344 and overturned at Esterly Drive.
The officer ordered Ramsey and his two passengers out of vehicle at gunpoint. The Salem officer involved in the pursuit arrived along with two highway patrol units and Columbiana EMS. All three occupants of the vehicle refused medical treatment.
Ramsey was transported to the county Jail and his passengers were released.
