United closes books on year

HANOVERTON — The United school board last week closed out the 2020 fiscal year with permanent and temporary appropriations.

The board authorized Treasurer Melissa Baker to transfer, advance and amend all appropriations, codes and funds to close out the fiscal year and amend and file a certificate of estimated resources with the Columbiana County Auditor’s Office. The board also approved the advance/transfer of funds from the General Fun in order to offset the deficit balances during June to close out the year. The final appropriations for the fiscal year finished at $16,744,812.51.

The board also approved temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2021 at $16,812,717 and approved the transfer of $145,000 from the General Fund to the Lunchroom Fund.

Also at the meeting, the board hired Rebecca Zeisler as jr./sr. high vocational teacher effective Aug. 24.
