New Waterford council puts zoning code in order

NEW WATERFORD — New Waterford conducted a special council meeting Monday to address ongoing business, including an ordinance to accept a codified version of the village’s zoning laws and rules.

When the zoning code was originally passed, it was passed in three different ordinances. While nothing is changing in terms of the language of the code itself, it has been condensed into one place.

In other business, council also voted to authorized the village to participate in the ODOT cooperative purchasing program for rock salt for the 2020-21 year. Although the weather was mild this winter, Village Administrator Jason Gorby said they used a pretty good amount, and they buy more salt to make sure they always have a good amount at their disposal.

Council authorized the village to participate in the county road reclaimer program for 2020 and Mayor Shane Patrone and Fiscal Officer Dave Slagle to enter into a contract with the Crestview Local School District regarding the water service agreement for the waterline extension.

Residents can prepare for the spring cleanup by putting their items at the roadside as early at May 4, but the pickup won’t be until 6 a.m. May 11. There will be no electronics collected this year, including TV’s and microwaves. Paint cans (unless paint is completely dried) and tires are also prohibited. The village will answer any additional questions regarding the pickup.

Due to the waterline replacement at the underpass, East Main Street will be closed today and Thursday to complete the area. Signs have been posted.

As of right now, the East egg hunt will take place at noon on April 11 at Methodist Church.

Council’s next regularly schedule meeting is for 6 p.m. April 14.
