BDD honors Calcutta restaurant
CALCUTTA — Wendy’s Restaurant of Calcutta has been recognized for its long history of hiring local residents with developmental disabilities by Reach 4 More, an employment program of the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities. One such employee, Alan Ammon, was present as longtime general manager Ashley Curran accepted the award on behalf of store owner Primary Aim LLC. “He is always prompt, he never calls off, and he’s always asking, ‘What can I do?’ He has a great attitude and is pleasant to talk to,” Curran said of Ammon. Ammon has worked part-time at Wendy’s for the past year, assigned primarily to doing general cleaning. Ammon’s sunny outlook rubs off on the staff, she said. “He comes through here and gets high-fives,” she said. Hiring those with disabilities has been a practice of this Wendy’s for many years, she said. “We certainly appreciate the heart that Ashley and her whole staff have for people with disabilities,” said Paul Anthony, an employment development specialist for Reach 4 More. Business owners and managers interested in learning the advantages of hiring those with disabilities can contact Reach 4 More at its Lisbon office at 330-870-4272.
