Official Kasich portrait unveiled
COLUMBUS — The official portrait of former Ohio. Gov. John Kasich. Ohio’s 69th governor was unveiled Monday at a packed Statehouse event.
The Republican governor held office from 2011 through 2018. The Capital Square Review and Advisory Board presented the portrait in the atrium of the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
Kasich’s portrait was painted by John Seibels Walker, known for portraiture in the style known as the “Grand Manner.” The painting pictures the down-to-earth Kasich in an open suit jacket and tie in front of the Ohio Holocaust and Liberators Memorial on the Statehouse’s South Plaza. Kasich championed the memorial, finished in 2014.
Private donations are used to pay for portraits of former Ohio governors, which hang on the first floor of the Statehouse.
