Wilms wins Fairfield fiscal job
COLUMBIANA — In what was expected to be a close race with a plethora of candidates, Emily Wilms was elected as fiscal officer for Fairfield Township on Tuesday.
Wilms, who is the chief deputy clerk in county Municipal Court, won with 38 percent of the vote, which was 11 percent more than the next highest vote receiver, Katrena Davidson.
Wilms believes that her experience as the chief deputy clerk has prepared her to be valuable as the fiscal officer.
In fact, Wilms said her experience is why she stands out. She believes the knowledge she has gained through her various positions makes her an asset to the community. Her management experience at the court and the private business sector should help her in this position.
She ran for office due to her belief in serving the community and plans to use her background with technology to help make Fairfield Township into a more effective and efficient place.
