Voice of Democracy

Washingtonville VFW Post 5532 Commander Paul Kramer and Auxiliary President Joann Pariso have announced the local winners of the annual Voice of Democracy Scriptwriting contest and Patriots Pen Essay contest.

Leetonia junior Baylee Wright, who will compete in the nine-county, District 6 Scriptwriting competition. She will receive $500 for her effort. This year’s theme is “What Makes America Great” and judging in based on originality, content and delivery of the 3-5 minute speech.

Leetonia seventh-grader Alora Gray will compete in the District 6 Patriot’s Pen competition. She will receive $100 for her effort. This year’s theme is also “What Makes America Great” and judging is based on theme knowledge, development and clarity of ideas in the 300-400 word essay.
