United BOE OKs personnel

HANOVERTON- The United school board this week approved several personnel actions, including the retirement of two teachers at the end of the school year.

The board accepted the resignation of Cindy Neiswanger, high school choir teacher, effective May 30, as well as that of Eric Chronister, industrial arts teacher, effective May 31. The board also accepted the retirement of Sharlene Harrison as cafeteria manager effective Dec. 31.

Also at the meeting, the board approved the hire of Mary VanBuren under the retire-rehire provision to teach one section of “American Dreams,” a College Credit Plus class for the second semester of this school year.

Additionally the board granted a supplemental coaching contract for the 2019-2020 school year to Angie VonFeldt for assistant varsity winter cheerleading and agreed to pay Don Conser 71 percent and Mary Alice Sigler 29 percent of the board approved stipend for volleyball coach.

The board also approved Jodi Briceland as a community volunteer; as well as the following volunteer coaches: Mike Hawkins for bowling; Lenny VonFeldt for ski club; and DJ Ogilvie, Travis Ellyson, Jordan Phillips, Mike Ward, Jim Headley, Jake Kilroy, Corey Hill, Ryan Burd and Jon Newburn for weight room.

The board also approved the following as winter athletic workers for various assignments: Brian McKarns, Mike Phillips, Ryan Burd, Sally Humphrey, Shar Harrison, Sue Balint, Jason Shinn, Paul Newburn, Tim Hydrick and Erin Newburn.

In other business, the board accepted donations of $1,500 from B & T Trucking (Terry & Bonnie Roudebush) to the Bowling Team program, $100 from Entrepreneurial Engagement Ohio to the FCS field trip for transportation costs $1,000 from the Ohio State University Foundation via Hicks & Hayseeds 4-H Club to the Real Money – Real World program; $50 from Douglas and Patty Jarvis to the FFA; $100 from Maria Sabatino in memory of Diane Strudthoff to the Back Pack Program; $1,000 from Winona Foods to the Back Pack Program; and $60 from Hanoverton Christian Church (Pamela Lattimer).
