East Liverpool police seek theft victims
EAST LIVERPOOL — Nothing gets one’s attention like a man walking down a public street carrying a large flat screen TV.
That is what East Liverpool police Captain Thomas Clark encountered Wednesday morning. He was driving to work when he spotted William Donald Barrett Jr., formerly of 827 Laura Ave. and Salem, on Avondale with the television, where officers had received several different calls of stolen items from Avondale and Oak Street properties.
Barrett was placed in custody for public intoxication; however, officers still are seeking to match up the properties, which included various tools and clothing, to victims before charging him in conjunction with the alleged thefts, according to police. Photos of the property were uploaded Wednesday morning to the department’s Facebook page for possible identification.
Among the items were various fishing poles, XBox games, CDs and a Big Lots’ employee uniform shirt bearing the name tag Hannah.
Barrett currently has a felony case pending through county Common Pleas Court for receiving stolen property as well breaking and entering.
Anyone with knowledge of the property’s owners are asked to call 330-385-1234 or stop by the police station.
