Vehicle torn apart in Route 9 crash

Morning Journal/Ron Firth

Not much was left of this vehicle after it wrecked on state Route 9 just north of Hanoverton about 4 a.m. Sunday. According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the vehicle was southbound when it went off the right side of the road before coming back and going off the left side of the road. The vehicle went through a ditch and up a hill before rolling back across the road. The engine and right front tire were ripped from the vehicle. The driver could not be found at the scene, but troopers have an idea of the person’s identity based on a cellphone and personal papers found at the scene. Hanover Township firefighters were called to the scene to assist in the search for the driver, who is believed to have been ejected.
