Man found after leaving assisted living facility

LISBON — An 85-year-old man from a Lisbon assisted living facility took a quick drive to Salem before anyone realized he was missing.

According to Lisbon police, at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Allied Health notified them that the elderly man was missing from their facility.

Police began searching around Lisbon for the man, who was described as last seen wearing a white shirt and gray pajama bottoms. Three minutes later Allied Health called Lisbon police again to add to the report. A 2008 Ford Edge also was missing and they believed the man may have taken the vehicle.

According to Salem police reports, someone there had already located him before Lisbon police were even told he was missing. At 7:35 p.m., someone at Super USA on South Lincoln Avenue called Salem police asking for them to check on the well-being of an elderly man, who was lost and unsure of where he was.

Officers spoke to the man and eventually discovered he was the one reported missing in Lisbon. He had left the assisted living facility in Lisbon in one of the Allied Health employee’s vehicles.

Workers from the Allied Health facility responded to Salem and retrieved the vehicle.

The elderly man agreed to voluntarily go by KLG ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for a psychological evaluation.
