Walk/ride to benefit Greenway
The Columbiana County Park District’s annual Greenway Trail Walk/Ride Benefit will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. T-shirts will be available for a $20 donation with proceeds going to trail maintenance. Southern Local student Trisha Wintermantel submitted the winning design for this year’s T-shirt, which is being held by Friends of the Park trustee Arlene Rice-Obertance. T-shirts will be available along four stations along the trail: Lisbon, Teegarden, Franklin Square and Leetonia. Participants will also be offered free water, fruit, cookies and ice cream certificates.
Supplement fun with faith
The Supplement Station, located on the south end of the Salem bypass, will hold a Faith and Family celebration this weekend. The fun begins today from 7 to 9 p.m. with yard games, such as cornhole, ring toss, a big Connect 4 and Kerplunk. Then at 9 p.m., families can settle in for the free showing of “The Resurrection of Gavin’s Stone” with free popcorn. The store cafe and smoothie bar will both be open for purchases. On Saturday, Praise in the Pavilion will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. featuring local artists from churches, such as praise bands and musicians even with some violins. DC Music will provide the sound system for the event. The store deli/cafe will be open for sandwiches and salads. People should bring blankets and lawn chairs both days.
Hydrant work set in Salineville
The Buckeye Water District will be flushing fire hydrants in Salineville starting July 22 at the west end of town and moving east. Customers may experience temporary water discoloration and low pressure during this process.
MAPS master will visit library
The Lepper Library in Lisbon will host Reed Kimball, director of education at the MAPS Air Museum in North Canton at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20. Kimball will give a presentation on people who first dreamed about reaching the stars, some of the steps and missteps we have taken to get there, and where the dreamers envision we might go in the future. Free Methodist revival slated
The 97th annual camp meeting revival services on the Tri-State Free Methodist Campground, 1027 Anderson Boulevard, is being held July 11-21. Evening services begin at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. The evangelist for this year’s services is the Rev. Howard Olver, who has more than 40 years of experience in urban inter-cultural ministry He is fficially retired. He and his wife of 50 years, Linda, live in the Bergen, N.Y., area. The Civil War comes to Firestone
Historian Alice Whitehill will present the program “The Day the Civil War Came to Our Backyard” when the Historical Society of Columbiana-Fairfield Township has its annual picnic Monday at pavilion l at Firestone Park. Social time is 6 p.m. and eating at 6:30. The program is about of John Hunt Morgan’s surrender at West Point. Whitehill and her husband Earl will also play some Civil War songs on their dulcimers.
SCT to audition for ‘Mamma Mia’
Auditions for “Mamma Mia” at Salem Community Theatre will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Show dates are Sept. 29-29. Jon Bielski will direct. Ages needed are 14 and up. Prepare a one-minute section or a song of your choice. No accompanist will be provided. Prepare an a cappella number or you can use a phone without the voices.
