United renews superintendent’s contract

HANOVERTON–The United school board this week renewed the contract of the schools superintendent.

The board approved a three-year contract for schools Superintendent Lance Hostetler effective Aug. 1, 2020 through July 31, 2023 at a yearly salary of $102,000. The board also approved an addendum to his current contract, changing the years since the contract is being renewed a year early.

Hostetler has been superintendent at the district since August of 2017.

In other business, the board granted supplemental coaching contracts for the 2019 fall sports season to Mike Ward, Jordan Phillips, Jake Kilroy, Travis Ellyson and Tony Sluss for varsity football assistants; Ryan Burd and Corey Hill, Jon Newburn and Chuck Mead for junior high football; Jim Headley for weightlifting; Jeff Medure for varsity boys soccer assistant; Megan Amos for varsity girls soccer assistant; Marcy Aberegg for varsity volleyball assistant; Noleen Moore for seventh grade volleyball; Megan Gozelanczyk for varsity cross country assistant; and Alaina Davison for junior high cheerleading.

The board also approved as volunteer coaches for the 2019 fall sports season Dave Render for varsity football, Rob Hovorka for varsity girls tennis, Rachel Amos for varsity girls soccer and Nikki Blazer for varsity girls soccer.

Also at the meeting the board approved as summer school assistants Karesia Sisco, Erin Young, Renee Congo, Alexandra Smith, Todd Sarchet, Jacob Kilroy, Danielle Burch, Sabrina Weber and Megan Gozelanczyk.

The board also hired Caitlin Hoffee, Katrina Blough, Alexander Birtalan and April Clark as custodial summer helpers.
