Beginning June 26 until further notice, Haiti Road in Washington Township will be closed between the Railroad Tracks & Hazel Run Road.

One-lane traffic

Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road in St. Clair Township will be open to one-lane traffic starting Wednesday. Both lanes have been closed for about two weeks, except for local traffic, while the Columbiana County Engineer’s Office repaired a section of road that collapsed and was washed away over a hillside by heavy rains. The section is halfway up the hill from the Pennsylvania state line. County Engineer Bert Dawson expects the the work to be completed in another week.

Hydrant flushing

LISBON–The Lisbon Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants this week east of Market Street, starting at East Washington Street and heading north through the state Route 45 area. Water customers may notice short periods of lower pressure, and some discoloration is possible in and around the areas where the work is occurring. Customers are asked to refrain from doing laundry when flushing is taking place in your area.

Annual garage sale

The Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels organization will be holding their annual garage sale on Friday, June 28 from 8 a.m. -3 p.m. and Saturday, June 29th from 8 a.m. -noon. The sale will be held at 735 Springfield Road, Columbiana. Large sale with a variety of household items, holiday decorations, kids toys and clothes and much more. This annual fund raiser assists the Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels program to provide meals to those in need in the City of Columbiana, Leetonia, Washingtonville and New Waterford areas. Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels in a non-profit 501c3, self funded program.

Lancaster, Pa. trip

All are welcome to take part in an overnight trip to Lancaster, Pa., to see the Sight and Sound Theatre production of Jesus. Sponsored by Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the trip will depart from Chester the morning of Thursday, August 8, and return the following afternoon. The trip will include: a ticket for the performance of Jesus; roundtrip charter transportation; accommodations at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn and Resort; an Amish-style smorgasbord dinner; a complete breakfast buffet; a guided Amish Farm and Lifestyle tour; and a visit to the Bird-in-Hand Farmers’ Market.

The cost per person is $228 – double occupancy, $213 – triple occupancy, and $198 – quad occupancy. Subtract $25 per person for those age 12 and under. A limited number of spaces are available. For more information or to make a reservation, call 304-374-7474.

Theatre auditions

This just in! Auditions have been set at Salem Community Theatre for our 2019-2020 season opener or Mamma Mia! Show dates are September 20-29. Directed by Jon Bielski. Ages needed for the show are 14 and up. Please prepare a one minute section or a song of your choice. No accompanist will be provided. Please prepare an acappella number or you can use a phone without the voices. There will also be a short dance call so please dress appropriately.
