Volunteers are needed for the 16th annual “Day of Giving” in East Palestine. The free public event is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Community Center at the park. Also known as Dog Days, the volunteer event was initiated years ago by the village school district to improve the community through building, cleaning and landscaping projects throughout town. The event has been endorsed by community leaders over the years. Help is needed from youth groups, school clubs, senior volunteers, civic groups, and individual volunteers to help complete the projects. Volunteers must check in by 9 a.m. Saturday at the Community Center. A lunch will be provided for all helpers at 11:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to make a donation should make checks payable to Dog Days 2019 and send to Sandy Wales at 127 Garfield Ave. East Palestine, Ohio 44413.
