Salem man charged after police chase
SALEM–A Salem man is facing a number of charges including a felony after crashing a vehicle into a house on Jennings Avenue while fleeing police.
Chad Curtis Dotson, 29, 537 Jennings Ave., Salem, was charged with a third-degree felony count of failure to comply as well as OVI and driving under suspension in addition to multiple traffic violations after he fled at high speed an officer attempting to stop him for reckless operation in the 200 and 300 blocks of Jennings Avenue at 8:41 p.m. Friday. The officer lost sight of Dotson’s vehicle, but found it crashed in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue, having struck two parked vehicles and coming to rest against a house, damaging the gas mater on the residence.
Dotson fled the scene on foot, leaving his 27-year-old passenger. Officers tended to the passenger until medical personnel arrived and transported him to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown with suspected serious injuries.
Dotson was located in the area after a search by officers. He was uninjured and transported to the county jail.
